Come and join the Terrence Higgins Trust volunteers, Lambeth and Wandsworth Police, Staff from Lambeth Council and members of the local LGBT community for a couple of hours LGBT Outreach and Litter Pick on Clapham Common.
We will meet by the bandstand at 2pm before walking over to the gay cruising area. Volunteers will work together in pairs – helping to clean up the area – removing any litter that we come across and chat to anyone who is around.
At the same time we will be rededicating Jody’s bench, installing a new plaque after the previous plaque was stolen/removed. 17-24-30 No to Hate Crime Campaign have covered the cost of the new plaque which will be recessed into the bench this time – so hopefully it won’t go missing again.
The bench was originally installed and dedicated to the memory of Jody Dobrowski on the 14th October 2012 thanks to the hard work of local people including David Dandridge who works tirelessly along with other local residents, the Clapham Common Management Committee (CCMAC), Lambeth and Wandsworth Councils and Lambeth and Wandsworth Police, to ensure that Clapham Common remains a safe space for all who use it, inclusive of the LGBT community.
Gloves, Litter Pickers, and refuge sacks along with light refreshments will be provided.
